This collection thus touches upon contemporary issues, recent protests and movements, artistic subversion and dissent, online activism as well as historic developments and elemental theories of dissent.

Die Publikation geht zurück auf die Ausstellungsreihe «dazwischen» und die Lehrprojekte «dazwischen projekt» (in den Jahren 2007 bis 2008). Die Veranstaltungen sind im Rahmen des von der Fritz Thyssen Stiftung geförderten Forschungsprojekts «Kunst des Forschens» realisiert worden. Die Ausstellungsprojekte fanden in Kooperation zwischen der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) und dem Projektraum White Space Zürich statt. Die Lehrprojekte in Kooperation mit Katharina Hinsberg (Hochschule für Künste, Bremen).

Artistic Practices as Cultural Inquiries ist eine Open Access Publikationsplattform, die eine Engführung künstlerischer, wissenschaftlicher und kuratorischer Praktiken im Rahmen kulturanalytischer Forschung sucht. Sie versteht Kunst als einen Möglichkeitsraum für Kritik, sowohl im analytischen wie auch im transformativen Sinn. Die einzelnen thematischen Ausgaben/Journals von insert versammeln Beiträge, die an die Frage anknüpfen, inwiefern selbstreflexive ästhetische Praktiken eine Analyse von kulturellen Konstruktionen, deren Politiken und Wirkungsweisen zu leisten vermögen.
Wertschöpfung zwischen Kultur, Wirtschaft und Technologie
Der Bericht enthält eine Fülle von Analysen, Fakten, Porträts, Zahlen, Vergleichen und Mappings, durch die er ein facettenreiches Bild im Grenzgebiet von Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz und Liechtenstein zeichnet. Damit wird erstmals die regionale Bedeutung der Creative Economies in der Bodenseeregion aufgezeigt und in ihren europäischen Kontext gestellt.
